The programme entitled \u201cThere\u2019s always a place for you at our table\u201d presented the cooking culture of contemporary settlers, immigrants who have come to Poland in the 21st century. The presentation was done through workshops, dialogue, narrative. The workshops were attended both by the people from Tri-City and by tourists.<\/span><\/p>\n

We invited everyone who wanted to learn how to cook originally foreign, sometimes exotic dishes, but also, or perhaps mostly, those interested in the newcomers, who found it interesting to discuss cuisines, home, longing, the way they absorb Poland into their lives and their food.<\/span><\/p>\n

Videos were produced during the cycle to document the events, as well as reportage photography projects published on the Facebook page of the Ethnography Department of the Gda\u0144sk National Museum and on the Gda\u0144sk National Museum\u2019s website.<\/span><\/p>\n

Milad Ghorbani<\/h3> \n

Milad Ghorbani – an Iranian national from Tehran, living in Europe for 13 years, currently a permanent resident of Sweden, but visits Poland often. He graduated from university in Hungary and spent several months in Serbia. A pharmacist by profession, currently working as one in the V\u00e4rmland region of Sweden, but his truly great passion is cooking. This is what helps him move to his mother country and family home that he has been missing continuously for years. Through the scents and flavors of the Persian cuisine, he returns to the places he knows and loves; he sees it as a method of dealing with the challenges faced by an immigrant in his daily life. He invited us to a Persian cuisine workshop where we produced Mirza Ghasemi, a dish originating from north Iran. It is a wonderful marriage of aubergines, garlic and tomatoes that gave us a great feeling of Milad\u2019s home country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n \n\n\n\n
